20. Breakfast at Snooze

In that past I’ve heard some big city folk gripe about the lack of good restuarants in the Fort but I demand to differ. After eating at Snooze yesterday morning with a friend, I feel the need to add it to my mental list of absurdly good breakfast joints along side Lucille’s, Silver Grill and Choice City Butcher (even saw the owner of Choice City enjoying breakfast while we were there). Snooze is not your average greasy spoon. As you enter the restaurant you’ll notice the decor has a retro 50s feel, it’s bright and modern and seems to awaken the senses. Grab at a seat at the bar and order a bloody mary. Or, have┬áthe hostess seat you at a booth. If you’re one of those people that will always opt for a booth over a table fear not, even the tables at Snooze have these awesome circular booth-style seats surrounding them. Ok, onto the food already. It’s incredible. Ever heard of smoked cheddar hollandaise? Neither had I until yesterday. Ever had a Breakfast Pot Pie? Neither had I but our super friendly waitress said it was her favorite thing so we took her advice. It’s a puff pastry filled with rosemary sausage gravy with an egg on top, served with hashbrowns.

Our other entre was from the “Art of Hollandaise” menu. Eggs benedict with brie, arugula, cream cheese or smoked cheddar hollandaise (I can’t remember which) and light drizzle of balsamic vinegar. This is breakfast heaven for the foodie. Also be sure to try their pancakes. We ran into a friend of ours sitting at another table who saw that we had only ordered eggs; he actually brought his plate of banana pancakes over to our table to make sure we didn’t miss out on the sweeter side of Snooze. What else can I say? Go check em out!

They’re right next to the Trailhead Tavern on Mountain just west of College. Open M-F 6:30am-2:30pm, Sat-Sun 7-2:30.

Snooze has completely revolutionized pancakes in my opinion! And how about those amazing hand-crafted mugs designed specifically for Snooze?! Incredible!!!

The Pineapple Upside Down pancakes would’ve been the best pancakes I’d ever had, except for the fact I also tried the Cinnful Pancakes which are downright *decadent*.
