9. Fort Collins Music eXperiment

This weekend is gonna be quite a treat for Fort Fun’s music lovers.  Today, April 9th through Saturday April 10th, the  2nd annual Fort Collins Music eXperiment will be happening all over town.  FoCoMX is a festival celebrating the Northern Colorado music scene that will feature 150+ bands at 15+ venues  and a 2 day pass is $15!  That my friends is bang for your buck.

The only problem with this much fabulous music is choosing who to see where.  Here’s my strategy: go to the FoCoMX Facebook page.  There you’ll see  many of the bands are writing on the FoCoMX wall and linking back to their own facebook pages where you can hear their music.  You can also get the full artist list at www.focomx.org and use that to search facebook, myspace or itunes to get a feel for each band.

A few things to note:

There will be FREE  buses going from venue to venue every 15 minutes.  Click here for the bus route map.

Most of the venues and shows are all ages but a few are 21+.  Go to www.focomx.org and click on FAQ to see the list of age restricted venues.

The best way to buy tickets (actually wristbands) is to go to Rock ‘n’ Robin’s and buy at the counter but they only accept cash. You can pay online with a credit or debit card but you still have pick them up at either Rock ‘n’ Robin’s or a will call booth they’ll have setup during the shows in Old Town Square in front of Gallery Underground.

Also, the Fort Collins Musicians Association will be holding some cool educational panels on Saturday at Art Lab (239 Linden St), here’s the scoop:

2:00 pm – How Do You Afford Your Rock n Roll Lifestyle? A conversation with members of the Northern Colorado professional music community on positively sustaining oneself within the local music community

4:00 pm – Do It Yourself Marketing in the 21st Century: Creating a major label image on a shoestring budget
