3. Have a Picnic at Horsetooth Reservoir

Spring is nearing, the tree buds are starting to show, bikes are starting to hit the streets in greater numbers, and I haven’t put my winter jacket on for at least 2 weeks now.

All this to say that as the weather continues to get nicer and nicer, we are nearing the perfect time of year to pack up your grandmother’s wicker picnic basket, find a red checkered blanket, throw the Frisbee, fishing poles, dog, kite, camera, kids/friends, etc. into the back of the car and go have a picnic at Horsetooth Reservoir.

With over 25 miles of shoreline, Horsetooth Reservoir is a gold mine of recreation potential. The more popular and accessible areas for a picnic are along the east side of the reservoir. They are Rotary Park, Sunrise, and Skyline recreation areas. There is a great map of Horsetooth Recreation areas on the Larimer County website.
